Carapetis takes Telethon role
University of WA Winthrop Professor Jonathan Carapetis has started as the new director of the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research, following the retirement of founding director Fiona Stanley. Professor Carapetis was previously the director of the Menzies School of Health Research in Darwin and in 2008 was named the Northern Territory Australian of the Year.
Petracca joins Aurecon WA
Engineering and project management company Aurecon has appointed Joe Petracca as development manager for its WA division. Mr Petracca has previously worked for BHP Billiton Iron Ore and Rio Tinto Iron Ore in technical and project management roles and WorleyParsons and Amec Construction in business development.
City of Perth head planner
The City of Perth has appointed Martin Mileham as director of planning and development, replacing Peter Monks. Mr Mileham is currently executive director of strategy policy and projects at the WA Department of Planning.
Depiazzi dairy president
Dardanup dairy farmer Phil Depiazzi has been selected as the new dairy section president of the WA Farmers Federation. Mr Depiazzi has been confirmed in the role along with Michael Partridge as his senior vice-president, to replace outgoing president Peter Evans.
St John of God movement
St John of God Health Care has appointed Mark Lubliner as group director of medical services overseeing its 13 private hospitals and other services. Dr Lubliner was previously the executive director of strategy and clinical governance at Cabrini Health and has replaced Lachlan Henderson, who is the new chief executive of St John of God Pathology.
New Group counsel
Larissa Pickford has been selected as the general counsel for St John of God Health Care. Ms Pickford was formerly a partner at Sydney law firm Atanaskovic Hartnell and before that held positions at Mallesons Stephen Jaques and Freehills.
Akehurst gets second term
Former Woodside Petroleum managing director John Akehurst has been reappointed to the Reserve Bank of Australia board for a further five years starting August 31. Mr Akehurst is also a director on the boards of blood products manufacturer CSL, Origin Energy and the UWA Business School.
Jones joins Liberty Resources
Fertiliser developer Liberty Resources has named Tim Jones as its exploration manager. Mr Jones has more than 20 years’ experience in mining, including with Stanmore Coal and previously with Linc Energy, where he lead teams that drilled significant coal deposits in the Bowen and Galilee Basins.
