Hillier heads ACLA
The Australian Corporate Lawyers Association has appointed Suzanne Hillier as president, following the resignation of David Patience, who remains a board member. Ms Hillier is the Perth-based general counsel for the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority.
Hansen chairs ICAA
The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia has elected Peter Hansen as chairman of the WA regional council. Mr Hansen is currently director, business services at accounting and advisory firm RSM Bird Cameron, and has been a member of the ICAA regional council since 2006. Palermo Group director John Palermo has been appointed as deputy chair.
Hogan St Bart’s CEO
Community organisation for homelessness St Bartholomew’s House has appointed Andrew Hogan as chief executive officer, following the retirement of Lynne Evans. Mr Hogan is currently group general manager of InvoCare Australia and a non-executive director of Alzheimer’s Australia and the Eye Institute.
O’Byrne joins Hames Sharley
Cathal O’Byrne has been appointed as principal, interior design for architecture and design firm Hames Sharley. Mr O’Byrne has previously worked across a range of sectors in the UK, US, Malaysia and Singapore.
Easton to conservation body
Perth Zoo board chair Brian Easton has been appointed as the new chairman of the Conservation Commission of WA, the vesting body for the state’s national parks, reserves and forests. The other new board members are: CSIRO deputy chief of earth science and resource engineering Steve Harvey; Acacia Prison assistant director, offender management Vanessa Davies; Manjimup shire president Wade DeCampo; ECU professor of tourism Ross Dowling; and Margaret River accountant Brian Middleton.
Mallios CFO at CFC
Chris Mallios has been appointed as group chief financial officer at the CFC Group, a WA logistics provider. Mr Mallios was previously the Sydney-based CFO at IT services provider GBST Holdings, and prior to that was head of finance – Asia Pacific for Tyco Electronics transportation connectivity division in Tokyo. The CFC Group has recently entered into an agreement to acquire Cape Crushing and Earthmoving Contractors from the VDM Group, a transaction valued at $53 million.
New managers at IOH
Pilbara miner Iron Ore Holdings has appointed Brett Hazelden as general manager – project development. Mr Hazelden was previously project director at FerrAus and prior to that, held engineering management roles at Fluor and Rio Tinto. Zen Davison, who has previously worked for Rio Tinto Iron Ore, Pilbara Native Title Service and Gibson & Gibson Lawyers, has been appointed as general manager – business development. IOH has also appointed Rudolph van Niekerk as project manager and Gareth Widger as corporate affairs manager.
