Robson leads museum board
University of Western Australia outgoing vice-chancellor Alan Robson (pictured) has been appointed as chair of the WA Museum board for a four-year term, following the resignation of Tim Ungar. Regional Development Council chair and former BHP Billiton executive Ian Fletcher and INPEX senior Aboriginal affairs adviser Irene Stainton have also been appointed to the board. The board manages the affairs and property of the WA Museum across its sites in Perth, Fremantle, Welshpool, Albany, Geraldton and Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
Hays manages desal centre
Warren Hays has been appointed as manager of the new Desal Discovery Centre, a water science education attraction that is part of the National Centre of Excellence in Desalination Australia’s research facility on Murdoch University’s Rockingham campus. Mr Hays previously worked at St Stephen’s School in Perth.
New law firm appoints trio
Julian Atkinson, Stuart House and Rob Downey have been appointed as principals at newly established boutique corporate and resources law firm Kings Park Corporate Lawyers. Mr Atkinson was previously a principal at Fairweather Corporate Lawyers. Mr House was sole practitioner at House Legal and the commercial manager at Alchemy Resources. Mr Downey was previously a legal consultant and a non-executive director of various ASX-listed companies.
Johnston heads Port Hedland
Roger Johnston has been appointed as chief executive officer of the Port Hedland Port Authority. He was previously the regional general manager WA of Boral Construction and, before that, national general manager of logistics. Port Hedland is Australia’s biggest port by tonnage.
Bluntish heads Stirling body
Rob Bluntish has been appointed as the 32nd president of the Stirling Business Association. He is the director of All Points Communications and has been an executive committee member of the association for the past two years.-
Hatton chairs marine authority
WA scientist Tom Hatton has been appointed chairman of the Marine Parks and Reserves Authority, the government agency in which marine conservation reserves are vested. Dr Hatton is director of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation’s Wealth for Oceans Research Flagship. Pendoley Environmental executive director and principal scientist Kellie Pendoley and Kimberley Training Institute manager of marine studies Jeff Cooper have also been appointed to the authority. They replace Angus Horwood, Trevor Ward, John Penrose and former chairman Eric Streitberg.
JAXON promotes Kepplinger
WA building company JAXON has appointed Mark Kepplinger as business development manager. He was previously the contracts and proposals manager at the company. He also worked at Doric as a project manager.
