McCarrey heads WAIPA

Sue McCarrey has been appointed as council president of the WA Institute of Public Administration. Ms McCarrey is the deputy director general of the WA Department of Transport and was previously executive director for safety and strategy at the Public Transport Authority. She has been the institute’s vice-president since 2009.

Bebich joins China Southern

China Southern Airlines has appointed Nik Bebich as its airport operations manager in Perth. Mr Bebich previously worked for Qantas for more than 30 years.

Phillips at Mac Equity

Rob Phillips has been appointed as partner – corporate finance at Subiaco-based boutique stockbroker Mac Equity Partners. Mr Phillips has previously worked for Hartley Poyton, D & D Tolhurst and DJ Carmichael, and has experience in corporate finance and equity capital markets.

Scull engineering fellow

Edward Scull has been elected as an honorary fellow by professional body Engineers Australia, based on his service to the engineering profession. Mr Scull is head of the Department for Medical Engineering and Physics at the Royal Perth Hospital, and was previously chair of the College of Biomedical Engineers. He was awarded the Order of Australia medal in 2009.

Ryan to PTTEP

PTTEP Australasia has appointed Gavin Ryan as general counsel. Mr Ryan was previously associate counsel for Shell Upstream International’s commercial, new business and LNG division, and has particular expertise in the areas of upstream joint ventures and unitisation, and in major LNG sale, purchase and project agreements.

Hames joins Duncan McPhail

Accounting firm Duncan McPhail & Co has appointed Brad Hames as a director and shareholder. Mr Hames has extensive experience in taxation and business advising.

Fisher to RFBYC

The Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club has appointed Suzanne Fisher as communications and member services manager. Ms Fisher was previously the development associate at Methodist Ladies’ College.

Arnold, Tan to Colliers

David Arnold and Joanne Tan have been appointed to the new role of senior executive, project residential in the Perth office of real estate agency Colliers International, which is expanding its reach into the luxury residential sector. Both have previously worked for Dee Seed Real Estate and NTY Property Group.

Mooney to Scotford & Fennessy

Recruitment firm Scotford & Fennessy has appointed Shaun Mooney as a consultant. Mr Mooney is recruiting design and engineering professionals for resources projects in WA.

Curtin right for Scott

Award-winning author Kim Scott has been appointed as a professor of writing at Curtin University’s School of Media, Culture and Creative Arts. Professor Scott will also work in Curtin’s Centre for Aboriginal Studies and the Curtin Health Innovation Research Institute (CHIRI). He previously held the position of associate professor for CHIRI.

Campbell joins Checkside

Human capital firm Checkside has appointed Kristy Campbell as an adviser. Ms Campbell has previously recruited professional and executive staff for national and WA businesses, including legal firms, SMEs and small-cap listed entitites in Perth since 2007.
