Another one jumps out of the box

BOX deli is the latest bar and restaurant to open in the CBD. The word ‘deli’ may not conjure up the image of a long, chic bar with a small restaurant sporting designer food, tables, and a funky backdrop (who said polka dots were out?), but that’s what you’ll find at Box.

Designer and developer Jeanmic Perrine says the name Box deli was chosen for its literal value. Inside the menu you’ll find a description of ‘deli’ and ‘delicatessen’, the literal dictionary translation. But while the name may reflect a casual image, there is nothing ‘corner store’ about it. What you’ll find is a place where the socialites of Perth will want to meet, greet and have a drink or perhaps a meal.

Staff members wear jeans and white tops. It’s a move to keep it casual, yet decidedly cool. In essence the name perhaps serves to keep those who don’t know what deli is all about just where Jeanmic wants them – out of the Box. Nicole McPheat is manager.
