Perth-based AnaeCo has commenced waste material processing trials at its advanced waste treatment facility in Shenton Park almost a year after it had planned to begin processing activities at the plant.
AnaeCo said today it had carried out successful initial commissioning tests at the plant and planned to start a further round of trials in the weeks to come.
The company is leading an expansion of the Western Metropolitan Regional Council's waste management facility, which uses AnaeCo's DiCOM technology to turn municipal waste into biogas and compost.
AnaeCo told the market in September last year that it planned to introduce waste material to the plant in November that year.
Production has since been set back by construction delays and the need to address operational issues identified during the commissioning of the plant.
AnaeCo said it would provide a more detailed update on commissioning once it had completed further trials.
Shares in AnaeCo closed 20 per cent lower at 0.8 cents.
