Chamber of Minerals and Energy president Kim Horne will take over from John Cowdell as the chairman of the Peel Development Commission.
Mr Horne is also the executive director of human resources and environment, health and safety for Alcoa
"Mr Cowdell has been the chair of the commission for the last three-and-a-half years during a time of significant development in the region." Minister for Regional Development Brendon Grylls said.
"I am also delighted to have someone with Mr Horne's local connections, regional and international experience and industry background moving into the important role of chair of the Peel Development Commission.
"This appointment reflects our commitment to WA's regions and the exciting role of regional development commissions in this State."
Mr Horne had already made a significant contribution to the Peel's development through his membership of the commission board for the past three years. He has spent the majority of his working life in Peel, starting his career with Alcoa at the Jarrahdale Mine in 1974.
The Minister also announced that retired pharmacist and long time resident of Waroona Councillor Larry Scott had joined the Peel Development Commission Board as a local government representative.
Existing member Paddi Creevey had been re-appointed.
