This is an extraordinary amount of investment that will continue to lose millions of dollars for decades to come. Fact - Airport Rail Lines get used mainly by Tourists under the age of 30 and the workforce of the airport. Neither demographic is of significance in relation to our Perth Airport(s) If Emperor Colin believes that FIFO workers will use the rail line, then he has truly lost touch with the real world. If you are earning a bucket load of cash, would you choose to spend 1.5hours on public transport instead of your current 20 minute drive that includes a farewell kiss from the missus? Unlikely, but that is what is proposed. All commuters from the Northern Suburbs will have to travel in to the city before heading back out the Midland line. That is after you have made your way to the skeleton train line in the first place. My prediction is that the most traveller numbers will come from people working in Forrestfield, which is why it has probably been included. Another $2.2 Billion onto our sky rocketing state debt. I can't wait to see the Cost Benefit Analysis on this one.
