Peter Bowler has been appointed managing director of gold mining company Agincourt Resources Ltd.
Mr Bowler will take over from current managing director Dr Tim Sugden, who will continue with Agincourt as a non-executive director. Dr Sugden has elected to focus his attention on building Nova Energy Ltd, a listed uranium and exploration company, 57per cent owned by Agincourt.
Agincourt chairman Craig Readhead acknowledged the valuable contribution that Dr Sugden had made to the company during its first 2 years; a period that has seen the market capitalisation of Agincourt increase from $30 million to $144million.
Mr Bowler has over 20 years experience in the operating and business aspects of mining, contractual, agricultural and property industries.
Prior to his appointment last October as CEO for Agincourt, Mr Bowler was previously the director of operations and is an executive director of the company. He has been involved with Agincourt's principal asset, the Wiluna Gold Mine, for the past 8 years.
The appointment will take effect from 25 January 2006.
