LOCAL organisations of all sizes were recognised this week for their contribution to the arts and community at the Australia Business Arts Foundation awards. A partnership between the North West Shelf Australia LNG and West Australian Symphony Orchestra for its tour of China won the national Australia partnering award. Fellow mining and resource giants BHP Billiton Iron Ore and Alcoa were also recognised, winning the QantasLink regional award with FORM Contemporary Craft and Design, and the Toyota community award with the Fremantle Arts Centre, respectively. The Sensis SME award went to Plan B Financial Services and the West Australian Symphony Orchestra for their partnership in the great classic series and patron’s programs. Asgard Wealth Solution’s Patrice Li won the KPMG adviceBank award with Barking Gecko Theatre Company for Mr Li’s volunteering of his time to update the company’s IT systems. The giving award went to the WA Academy of Performing Arts for its ‘name your seat’ fundraising campaign. AbaF state manager Henry Boston said business and arts organisations were taking advantage of the strong economy to build relationships that strengthened the cultural fabric of the state, reaping a range of business benefits in the process. The winners will go to the national finals of the AbaF Awards, held in Melbourne on October 26.
