MALAGA-BASED Automotive Technology Group will undertake a global joint venture offensive in a bid to roll-out its Sprintex Supercharger system through leading motor vehicle and motorcycle original equipment manufacturers around the world.
The group last week signed an agreement with a leading United Arab Emirates motor vehicle distribution group to evaluate its patented supercharger system with a view to secure exclusive distribution rights in the region.
ATG executive director Steven Apedaile told WA Business News the company was hoping to sign a similar deal in China in the coming months as part of a strategic decision to leverage its technology off major international automotive manufacturers.
ATG signed a prototype evaluation agreement with the UAE-based Al-Futtaim Motors Company LLC to test the patented low emissions, high fuel efficiency supercharger.
Al-Futtaim Motors is the largest distributor of automotive products in the UAE and holds exclusive franchises for major automotive brands such as Hino, Toyo and Chen Shin/Maxxis tyres.
Under the terms of the agreement, ATG will develop and install a complete Sprintex Supercharger system on a standard motor vehicle from a major vehicle manufacturer in its technical facility in Malaga.
The supercharger will then be fitted to a test vehicle of the same model and make, provided by Al-Futtaim Motors, for evaluation in the UAE.
Mr Apedaile said that, in a carbon-restrained world, original equipment manufacturers were turning to superchargers to help meet tougher emissions and fuel efficiency targets being enforced by governments.
"The Sprintex Supercharger achieves these two goals while ensuring the performance demanded by today's drivers is achieved despite the move to smaller capacity engines," he said.
Mr Apedaile said ATG also planned to introduce the supercharger technology into the $6.6 billion industrial compressor market.
"With this technology you really can have your cake and eat it too," he said.
