Malaga-based Automotive Technology Group Ltd has signed an agreement with a US company to develop a supercharger system for a new motorcycle engine.
ATG and S&S Cycles will undertake a program to manufacture a number of running prototypes for the Sprintex X Wedge concept system for testing and development.
S&S Cycle is an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of engines and performance parts for V twin motorcycles based in the USA. S&S primarily supplies the specialist motorcycle market and has distribution throughout North America, Europe and much of the developed world. S&S is considered the industry leader of its chosen field.
The system will be both EPA and ECE compliant and offered to the OEM and aftermarket.
ATG executive director Anthony Hamilton said under the agreement, ATG and S&S would develop the 150Bhp engine package to be completely emissions compliant in all jurisdictions with a global sales target.
The collaboration between S&S and ATG follows other successful applications by ATG of the patented Sprintex Supercharger developed for the Harley Davidson VRSC series and Ducati Monster which highlight the application of Supercharging to the motorcycle industry.
Mr Hamilton said increasing numbers of OEM's both Motorcycle and Motor Vehicle were turning to Supercharging to help reach the tougher emissions and fuel efficiency targets being enforced by governments globally.
"The Sprintex Supercharger achieves these two goals while ensuring the performance demanded by today's drivers can be achieved despite the move to smaller capacity engines, "Mr Hamilton said.
The global pressure to meet emissions regulations is only going to increase in the years ahead, which is the driving philosophy behind ATG's Sprintex technology.
