SPONSORSHIPS are not the only way businesses and worthy causes interact, with workplace giving increasingly common among many corporate organisations.
Professional services company KPMG, for example, has joined forces with environmental not-for-profit group Men of the Trees.
KPMG’s Perth office team recently won a national company-wide recycling project for reducing paper usage per person, and won $10,000 to donate to an environment group of their choice.
They chose to help revegetate the Wheatbelt through Men of the Trees.
“Our aim is to work together with farmers and the Western Australian community to implement large-scale revegetation projects to help put catchments back together,” Men of the Trees president Christian Marriott said.
Another example of workplace giving is United Community Credit Union’s support of Camp Quality’s juniors camp.
On top of the $25,000 corporate support United Community donated to Camp Quality, a further $9,500 was raised through member contributions, staff casual days, a quiz night and garage sale.
At the camp, about 100 seven to 12 year olds with cancer will spend a week at Woodman’s Point in April next year.
