The Vasse Small Business Centre (SBC) in Busselton - a key component in the Government's strategy to improve services in the region - was launched yesterday.
"The restructure of the state-wide small business services network has created a more efficient way of meeting industry needs," Small Business Minister Norm Marlborough said at the launch.
The Vasse SBC is part of the Carpenter Government's $3.1million commitment to the Small Business Centre Network.
"The network is receiving a 24 per cent increase in core funding overall," the Minister said.
"Significantly, 74 per cent of this funding is coming directly to regional Western Australia."
The Carpenter Government has three major small business objectives: providing a strong economic climate for small business; better services for small business; and achieving the best possible use of the services available.
Vasse SBC manager Gary Jenkins said the main aim of the centre was to help new and existing businesses to be as profitable as possible.
"There are a lot of hard working people who may not be maximising their potential,"
Mr Jenkins said.
"We want to be the first point of call for those business owners who could benefit from our expertise in marketing, administration, human resources and financial management to help make those areas more efficient."
In addition to providing $130,000 in core funding for the delivery of services, the Vasse SBC will also receive an initial contribution of $10,000 in capital funding to establish its telecommunications and IT facilities.
"The Vasse Small Business Centre will be focussing on providing services direct to the client, with mobile assistance available Cape to Cape," Mr Marlborough said.
