CONSTRUCTION worth more than $120 million is underway or planned in Joondalup. Lands Minister Doug Shave said a LandCorp review found projects worth $38 million were underway, $82 million were planned and $25 million were recently completed.
Current work includes the first residential hotel in the Joondalup CBD — a $5 million mid-market Country Inns and Suites project by US based Carlson Hospitality Worldwide group on a 9.3 hectare site on the corner of Boas Avenue and Grand Boulevard.
Other current projects include:
• An $11 million Target store in the Lakeside Joondalup Shopping City
• A $6 million Harvey Norman electrical and furniture complex
• A $6 million Brightwater Care facility next to the Joondalup Health Campus
• A St John Ambulance depot with six ambulances and first aid training facilities
• A $3.2 million pub, reception centre, commercial and residential development on Reid Promenade
• A $1.25 million three showroom development opposite Lakeside Shopping City.
Planned projects include a $25 million health and science building on Edith Cowan University campus to open in 2001 and the $35 million Police Academy.
Recently completed projects include the $16 million Greater Union Senstadium cinema complex, a $9 million addition to the West Coast College of TAFE and the $2.5 million Lotteries House.
