The City of Perth has allocated nearly a quarter of a million dollars in heritage grants for ten inner-city buildings.
The properties to benefit from the latest round of heritage grants are:
-Gloucester Park (Old Ledger Rooms) - $35,000 to help establish a museum to display the history of trotting at the venue.
-P & O Building (56 William Street) - $21,175 to prepare a conservation plan for the building.
-McNess Arcade (611-619 Hay Street) - $40,000 for urgent façade works.
-312B William Street, Northbridge - $22,000 to address access and toilet issues.
-Criterion Hotel (560 Hay Street) - $23,000 to repair and reseal roof canopy and gutters.
-116 Barrack Street - $3,300 to paint the building's façade.
-Lawson Apartments (6 The Esplanade) - $12,320 for an acoustic analysis.
-61-65 King Street - $30,000 to address water penetration.
-143 Barrack Street - $40,000 to restore the building's façade.
-55 Murray Street - $20,000 to damp proof and repair wall.
Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi said the grants would contribute to conservation plans and building façade upgrades.
"Owners of heritage buildings have a very special asset but there are invariably costs and other difficulties involved in maintaining or adapting the buildings to more contemporary uses," Ms Scaffidi said.
"The grants go some way to addressing these needs and it's pleasing to see increasing awareness and interest among property owners of the City's heritage incentives programs."
