William Plyley was a mining executive with over 35 years of operational experience in exploration, mining, processing, and management with substantial resources companies including Placer Dome, Normandy Mining and Red Back Mining. He was responsible for major mine developments in Ghana, West Africa and Australia. He also had significant roles in development and expansion of mines in Papua New Guinea and Australia. Mr Plyley retired in late 2010 as chief operating officer of La Mancha Resources where he was responsible for the development of the Frog’s Leg and White Foil mines near Kalgoorlie and the operation of mines in Sudan and Cote d’Ivoire, Africa. He was a director of Integra Mining from November 2011 until the take over of Integra by Silver Lake Resource in January 2013. Mr Plyley has a BSc. in Metallurgical Engineering from Mackay School of Mines, University of Nevada. He is a member of Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (MAusIMM) and Graduate of Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD). Mr Plyley passed away in November 2018 after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
