Tina Zhou, a qualified lawyer in China, uses her cultural and language abilities to build relationships with existing Chinese clients, Chinese investors seeking opportunities in Australia and Australia-based clients looking to conduct business in China. Also, she has kept in close contact with firms, associations and governments in China and Australia to obtain first-hand commercial information and governmental policies. With her knowledge of Australia’s legal landscape, latest policies and projects at state and federal levels, as well as her understanding of Chinese clients’ needs, Ms Zhou navigated many leading state-owned and private enterprises in China to identify their investment projects in Australia. She also draws upon her extensive network and relationship base in China to assist Australia-based clients in exploring the legal and cultural terrain in China. By virtue of her deep understanding of Chinese laws and her experience as a legal practitioner in China, she has been helping many Chinese businesses achieve their commercial goals in Australia. Ms Zhou's relationship with the China Ministry of Commerce, National Development Reform Commission (NDRC) and numerous local governments is a valuable asset to successful transaction negotiations. She participates in industry conferences such as the China Mining Expo and outbound business delegations that are designed to promote Australia’s capabilities and opportunities to China’s business community. She was also invited to be the speaker at a range of conferences and forums in Western Australia, and participated in the 2011 2.0 trade mission to China which was led by Trade and Acting Foreign Minister Craig Emerson. She presented her practice and business experience at the 2012 Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) State Conference and UWA’s In the Zone 2012 Conference. Ms Zhou has strong ties to major Australia/China business groups and associations including the Australia China Business Council (ACBC), Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Australia (CCCA) and Australian Trade Commission (Austrade).
