Professor Tim Bentley is an experienced research leader, mentor and supervisor with over 15 years in research and academic leadership roles. He has led many major government-funded research projects in the fields of psychosocial risk; workplace ill-treatment; employee health, safety and wellbeing.
Prof Bentley's published research is extensive and has received considerable scholarly and public attention. His research on psychosocial risk and workplace ill-treatment has had high impact on government and industry stakeholders, contributing to a national policy in New Zealand and best practice guidelines/industry practice in New Zealand and Australia.
Prof Bentley joined the School of Business and Law at Edith Cowan University as Professor of Work and Wellbeing in 2019. Since late 2020, he has served as director of the Centre for Work + Wellbeing, a strategic research entity of Edith Cowan University. Prof Bentley became the director of the Mental Awareness, Respect and Safety (MARS) Centre within the School of Business and Law in July 2023, and the inaugural Professorial chair in Mining Work Health and Safety in September 2023. Both the MARS Centre and the Professorial chair position were created as part of a multi-million-dollar partnership between ECU and the WA State Government.
