Sue Robertson co-founded EDGE Employment Solutions in 1984 and was the managing director. She played a seminal role in establishing open-employment for people with disability in Australia, in partnership with current ‘Hall-of-Famer’, Greg Lewis, through Project Employment. Ms Robertson replicated the Project Employment model nationally, helping to found many DES providers still operating today. She has delivered training courses internationally, and won a number of awards for her management prowess. Through EDGE, Ms Robertson has developed services to assist university graduates with disability gain suitable employment, as well as establish disability supported work placements for secondary school students. She was significant in the initial inception of ACE in 1987.
In 1987, Ms Robertson was co-winner of the Australian Society for the Study of Intellectual Disability’s National Research Prize.
In 2005, she was awarded the Ernst & Young Social Entrepreneur of the Year for the Western Region.
In 2008, she won the List Inspire Woman of Influence Award.
Ms Robertson entered the Disability Employment Australia Hall of Fame in 2011.
