Sarah O'Brien-Smith

Sarah O'Brien-Smith plays a key role in all areas of a resources project. Her involvement across the project lifecycle gives her an important insight into the multifaceted resources sector, which aids in providing first class advice to clients. Her experience includes assisting in the acquisition and sale of mining tenements and projects, due diligence, royalty agreements, farm-in agreements and access agreements (including pastoral access agreements) and advising in relation to commercial aspects of mining and infrastructure tenure in Western Australia. Ms O'Brien-Smith has been involved in international arbitrations relating to mining and infrastructure projects in Africa. She also has a broad range of experience in general commercial litigation, having appeared in all Western Australian courts - the Federal Court, State Administrative Tribunal, and the Warden’s Court (in relation to mining and infrastructure tenure). Ms O'Brien-Smith graduated from the University of Western Australia in 2012 with a Bachelor or Laws and a Bachelor of Arts. She was admitted as a practitioner of the Supreme Court of Western Australia in 2013. She is the Convenor of the Young Lawyers Committee of the Law Society of Western Australia, member of the Council of the Law Society of Western Australia, and member of the newly formed AMPLA Emerging Leaders Committee.
