Ruth Slater has practiced almost exclusively in defendant-based insurance litigation since 1992. She joined HBA Legal in January 2015 from a career covering practice at Clayton Utz, Downings Legal (aka Barker Gosling) and Crisp Civitella Slater (now CCS Insurance Law), acting for numerous insurers and self-insureds. She also has six years concurrent experience in the Comcare system, providing legal advice on workers’ compensation claims to large companies. Ms Slater has extensive experience in pre-trial and conciliation conferences and instructing in trials appeals and hearings in the AAT, District Court, Supreme and High Courts. She is an expert in public liability and workers’ compensation. As a senior lawyer and partner, Ms Slater is responsible for ensuring the quality of all work prepared on her matters, ensuring best outcomes across advice on evidence, and assessment of compensation and damages for different losses (utilising differing thresholds, exclusions and methods of assessment).
