Ron Sherar

Ron Sherar was awarded WA Building Surveyor of the Year at the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors 2017 conference. Mr Sherar has been a stalwart of the building surveying industry. Prior to joining John Massey Group in 2006, he spent 23 years in the public sector as manager of building or principal building surveyor with the City of Belmont, City of Fremantle and the Shire of Kununurra. This was preceded by 15 years as a registered builder, supervisor and registered carpenter. His involvement in the private and public sector has included the estimating, supervision and a legislative role on a significant number of projects in WA with a large variety of building types from minor structures to multi-storey construction. Mr Sherar's local government role also involved approvals, inspections and negotiations using both deemed to satisfy and performance-based solutions to ensure compliance with the Building Code of Australia.
