Robert Backhouse is the chair of international design practice HASSELL and has built a reputation for design innovation and leadership through major projects in Australia and Asia.
His work ranges from some of the world’s largest and most complex workplaces to one-off apartments and houses. In Australia, he has worked on projects for clients including ANZ, Lendlease and Medibank.
An international award winner, Mr Backhouse is a fellow of the Design Institute of Australia and the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers, and a past member of the interior design course advisory committee at RMIT University. An interior designer who promotes collaborative, trans-disciplinary design practice, his work has been widely publicised and recognised by several major awards.
Mr Backhouse is regularly invited to speak and contribute articles for publication on latest thinking in interior architecture and design.
