Dr Rick Fenny is the owner of the Rick Fenny Group which encompasses tourism ventures, veterinary services, property and pastoral holdings. Over a career spanning almost five decades, Dr Fenny has been instrumental in developing Western Australia’s veterinary sector, creating WA’s first ‘remote-controlled’ network of clinics. He founded Pets + Vets which now has 11 clinics across the State from the Great Southern to the Pilbara, and has mentored more than 500 veterinarians with his clinics employing around 1,500 support staff. Dr Fenny is best known for being the real-life vet to Red Dog, the Pilbara-wandering red kelpie who inspired the popular film of the same name. He is also the star of Desert Vet, a TV show that highlights his life-on-the-road, managing his enterprises, and WA’s spectacular regions as key tourism destinations to the nation and world. A passionate advocate for WA, the Rick Fenny Group also owns two tourism businesses – Albany’s spectacular Maitraya Private Retreat and the award-winning Ocean Park Aquarium in the World Heritage listed Shark Bay area – which both attract Australian and international visitors. Dr Fenny was a finalist in the Business Award category of the 2019 Western Australian Of The Year Awards.
