Before becoming National Managing Partner in March 2016, Phillip Salem was a partner in the Government Group and advised governments on high profile and complex projects spanning major procurement projects to Commissions of Inquiry and government asset sales. He has been consistently ranked in the AFR's Australian Best Lawyers list for Government. Mr Salem worked predominantly with Commonwealth and state agencies, local government authorities and universities on commercial transactions, projects and administrative law matters, and advised private sector clients on regulatory matters. Mr Salem has a Bachelor of Economics, a Bachelor of Laws, and a Master of Laws degree. He is also an Accredited Specialist in Government & Administrative Law, and a member of the Specialist Accreditation Committee of Law Society of NSW. Before joining Sparke Helmore in 1998, Mr Salem was deputy director and senior government solicitor with the NSW Office of Australian Government Solicitor where, among other things, he headed the Business and Commercial Team. He is also a former Adjunct Professor in the School of Law of the University of Queensland.
