Dr Philip Snowden is a co-founder of Snowden Mining Industry Consultants. He is a professional geologist with over 37 years of experience in the minerals industry including 10 years lecturing in geology in Southern Africa, 6 years with Anglo American Gold and Uranium Division in South Africa, and 21 years as an independent geological consultant based in Perth.
He lectured in Structural Geology at Rhodes University in South Africa for 6 years before joining Anglo American's gold division based in Welkom, where he developed a strong interest in the geology and mining of the Witwatersrand reefs. In his role as a consultant geologist, Dr Snowden has acquired a wide range of experience in most commodities globally and a particularly keen appreciation of the mining industry in southern Africa.
He is a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and a Member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists. Dr Snowden has been involved in the mining industry for more than 36 years since graduating from the University of London (in Zimbabwe) in 1970. He completed his Doctorate in Archaean Tectonics in 1976.
