Peter Harmer joined IAG in 2010 and held a number of senior roles including as chief executive of the IAG Labs division, responsible for driving digital and innovation across IAG and its brands, and creating incubator areas which will specifically explore innovative opportunities across the fintech landscape. Prior to that, Mr Harmer was chief digital officer with a remit to develop a group-wide digital strategy. He was also chief executive of its commercial insurance division created in July 2014. Mr Harmer became chief executive IAG from November 2015 to November 2020 and has since taken on board roles.
Mr Harmer was also chief executive of Aon Limited UK and a member of Aon’s Global Executive Board, and spent seven years as chief executive of Aon’s Australian operations. He has over 35 years’ experience in the insurance industry including senior roles in underwriting, reinsurance broking and commercial insurance broking while appointed as managing director of John C. Lloyd Reinsurance Brokers, chair and chief executive of Aon Re and chair of the London Market Reform Group.
Mr Harmer has completed the Harvard Advanced Management Program.
