Peta Thompson
Peta Thompson joined GMA Garnet as general manager, global marketing services in April 2016. Based at GMA’s head office in Perth, Ms Thompson is a member of its senior leadership team and will lead its global marketing, branding and communications initiatives across the business. She is an experienced marketing professional, having worked with BP for 18 years as a specialist in developing brand strategy and successfully implementing marketing programs across BP’s global retail network of service stations in 17 countries. Ms Thompson was marketing manager for BP Turkey, responsible for consumer and business marketing to drive sales across 800 service stations. She also led developments to leverage sponsorship of the London 2012 Olympics and assessed new marketing opportunities and strategic partnerships to enhance and differentiate BP’s customer experience. Prior to her role in BP Turkey, Ms Thompson spent 7 years as global brand and communications manager for BP Fuels where she led its fuel advertising, brand strategy and global sponsorships, working with numerous stakeholders to deliver effective brand and communication programs that support business strategy. Whilst in this role, she was nominated to lead the initiation of BP’s 10-year global fuel strategy, developing key product scenarios to focus strategy and technology developments. Ms Thompson began her career with BP at Kwinana Refinery as a graduate mechanical engineer and worked in various professional roles before being employed as UK Fuels marketing manager in 2001.
