Neil Mackenzie-Forbes

Neil Mackenzie-Forbes graduated in 1993 from Queensland University of Technology with a B.AppSc majoring in Geology. Initially working in gold and base metal exploration and mining in Queensland, he then joined the Stuart Oil Shale Project as mine geologist and later as environmental coordinator. In 2006, he joined Metallica Minerals and identified the potential for the exploitation of the deeper Surat Basin coals. Mr Mackenzie-Forbes was exploration manager for Metro Coal and led the team that delineated in excess of 4Bt of thermal coal across numerous deposits. He was then appointed general manager of the Columboola JV with China Coal Group company where he progressed the project from initial drilling up to the pre-feasibility stage. Mr Mackenzie-Forbes has been a consultant geologist working in industrial minerals, metals and coal for a range of exploration companies in Queensland and abroad.
