
Mick Keelty AO joined the Australian Federal Police Force in Canberra and rose through the ranks to be appointed Commissioner in 2000. During his tenure as Commissioner, Mr Keelty oversaw the police responses to the Bali bombings, the Indian Ocean Tsunami and other regional events. He was honoured for his professional achievements by the Governments of Indonesia, Singapore and Timor Leste. Mr Keelty was knighted by the former King of Thailand, and was also awarded the Order of Australia for his work in securing regional law enforcement cooperation. Since leaving the AFP in 2009, Mr Keelty has spearheaded major government reviews and inquiries including security of the Australian Defense Force following terror attacks in Europe in 2016 and one of agency responses to NSW bushfires.
