Michael Valentine

Michael Valentine is an experienced and innovative educational leader. He has a reputation for decisive leadership as a former Head of both Junior and Middle schools. The design and delivery of highly-engaging, multi-disciplinary curricular and the building of teaching teams with buy-in to a challenging vision are trademarks of his time as a Head of School. A new role at Hale School has enabled Mr Valentine to design and deliver a teaching model for online learning that embraces idiosyncrasy, creative intellect, collaboration, and communication via dynamic virtual interactions across vast distance. In 2018, he continues to establish a lighthouse virtual education programme. Hale School seeks to champion the continued evolution of teaching and celebrate the unique, civilizing and enduring intellectual skills and values a student-focused curricular can deliver. Hale@home, since its introduction in 2013, has transformed the transition to boarding at Hale School. Hale Future School remains a unique innovation where cross-sectorial boundaries are overcome and remote schools join authentic, virtual learning communities to collaborate over distance. In 2018, Hale School has broadened its horizons as a community and Distance Learning has a seat at the planning table. The original (and courageous) vision for his role challenged Mr Valentine to investigate his capacity to transform the transition to boarding school. Mr Valentine continues to build a future for teaching where creative teachers can work together to design, deliver and assess engaging, authentic programmes of work that address the students’ needs and enrich their intellect.
