Michael Costarella commenced employment in the commercial sector in 1978 and with Local Government in 1985.
Prior to becoming the manager of corporate and community services at the Shire of Peppermint Grove, Mr Costarella was initially employed at the Town of Bassendean in May 2007 as the acting director of corporate services, to effectively prepare and present the 2007/08 Annual Budget and complete the 2006/07 Annual Financial Statements. In October 2007, Mr Costarella accepted the full-time position as the director of corporate services.
Mr Costarella has held a number of senior managerial positions within metropolitan and country councils including East Pilbara, Exmouth, Geraldton, Cottesloe and East Fremantle.
He has a diverse range of experience and a background in financial and corporate management. He has also been involved in several community-based committees in regional areas and assisted in emergency services including fire, cyclone and floods.
Mr Costarella attained accounting qualifications in the early part of his working life and has continued his professional development through on-the-job training courses.
