Dr Melissa Stoneham has over 20 years of experience in public and environmental health. She has worked with (and for) local, state and commonwealth government agencies, universities, professional associations, international agencies and International Aid organisations. Dr Stoneham has extensive experience in community engagement and action research. Her PhD is in the area of healthy policy development and implementation at the local government and community level. Dr Stoneham has worked as a communication consultant with the Pacific Action for Health Project (Secretariat of Pacific Communities, an International Aid Organisation) in Noumea, and also in Mozambique where she successfully developed a national medical waste management system together with supportive legislation. Dr Stoneham is a Fellow of the Public Health Association, a Fellow of the Environmental Health Australia, and a member of the Australian Health Promotion Association. She is also a board member of NaturePlay WA, Healthway Sports Sponsorship Committee, and the Alcohol Advertising Review Board.
