Matthias Bekier was the chief financial officer and executive director of the Star Entertainment Group prior to becoming the managing director and chief executive in April 2014. He resigned from the organisation in March 2022. Prior to Star Entertainment Group, he was the chief financial officer of Tabcorp Holdings from late 2005 to June 2011 when Tabcorp demerges with Echo Entertainment Group, which later changed its name to The Star Entertainment Group in November 2015. Mr Bekier had also held various roles with McKinsey & Company for 14 years, where he focused on building a substantial practice in both post-merger management and financial services, working across four continents.
Mr Bekier is a board member of the Australasian Gaming Council.
He holds a Master of Economics and Commerce, and a PhD in Finance.
