Martin Dobson

Martin Dobson specialised in workers’ compensation insurance for over 30 years. He regularly acts for Australian and international insurers and self-insured clients in matters involving workers’ compensation, personal injury, psychiatric injury including stress claims, asbestos diseases, workplace disputes including unfair dismissal claims, slip and trips. Mr Dobson is also highly experienced in common-law claims and recovery actions involving tort and contract. He has defended employers against employment liability claims involving allegations of unfair employment practices. This work includes negotiating the settlement of such claims and appearing at Fair Work Australia on behalf of employers and their insurers. Mr Dobson has also made frequent appearances in connection with WorkCover applications, as well as many appearances in Western Australia’s District Court and in the Supreme Court, the Federal Court of Australia and at Fair Work Australia regarding employment-related compensation matters. He is renowned for his skill in providing timely, practical and commercial advice and astute recommendations on the strategic management of claims in relation to liability, quantum and recovery. Mr Dobson also played a long-standing role in training and mentoring, as well as presenting at numerous seminars for the legal profession, employers and insurers, and within the law firms where he has worked.
