Margot Kearns
Professor Margot Kearns is a registered nurse and midwife with 16 years' clinical nursing experience including 12 years in intensive care. In 1994, she completed a Science Honours degree and was awarded the University of Sydney Medal for Biochemistry. Following this Prof Kearns completed a PhD in molecular genetics then moved to post-doctoral researcher at the Children’s Medical Research Institute. She taught undergraduate science and health students for over 20 years, and has special interests in the areas of clinical sciences and human genetics but in recent years have moved to teaching and learning and WIL. In 2005, as Foundation Dean of Nursing on the Sydney Campus of Notre Dame, she had a pivotal role in the development and establishment of the start-up campus. In 2008, she was appointed Pro Vice Chancellor Sydney and was appointed to the national role of Pro Vice Chancellor Academic at Notre Dame in 2011.
