Zamile (Madiba) Qunya has extensive experience in South African local government matters, having been a mayor and councillor of the MbiZana Municipality and the Wild Coast District Council.
From 1999 to 2004, Mr Qunya was regional manager of Eskom and Shell in the Kwazulu Natal and Eastern Cape where he was responsible predominantly for human resource management.
Mr Qunya has been a director of Mineral Sands Resources, the South African subsidiary of ASX-listed Mineral Commodities which owns the Tormin Mineral Sands Mine, since November 2014. He has been instrumental in the establishment and development of Mineral Commodities' operations in South Africa, and in the delivery of its Social and Labour Plan at Mineral Sands Resources' Tormin Operations. Mr Qunya is also a director and shareholder in Blue Bantry Investments, Mineral Commodities' Black Economic Empowerment Partner in South Africa.
Mr Qunya has a Diploma in Business Management, Project Management, a National Diploma in Human Resource Management, and is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Management.
