Lex McCulloch

Lex McCulloch commenced as the Acting Executive Director of the WorkSafe Division and Acting Commissioner of WorkSafe Western Australia in February 2011. He has a Social Work Degree from Curtin University and has been in the Western Australian public sector since 1978, when he joined the Department for Community Welfare in Moora. He has worked in a variety of locations across the State including Derby, Kalgoorlie, Port Hedland and Perth. Lex’s various roles have provided him with a range of experience such as leading restructuring processes and delivering on significant projects, all of which have been aimed at improving the wellbeing of people in Western Australia. In the position of Youth Justice Services Assistant Commissioner at the Department of Corrective Services, Mr McCulloch was responsible for re-focusing and reinvigorating the division, with a priority on addressing the over-representation of Aboriginal people in the youth justice system. Mr McCulloch retired from public service at the end of 2017.
