Lex McCulloch was the acting executive director of the WorkSafe Division and acting commissioner of WorkSafe Western Australia from 2011 to 2017. He has a Social Work Degree from Curtin University and has been in the Western Australian public sector since 1978, when he joined the Department for Community Welfare in Moora. Mr McCulloch worked in a variety of locations across WA including Derby, Kalgoorlie, Port Hedland and Perth. He has a range of experience including leading restructuring processes and delivering on significant projects, all of which have been aimed at improving the wellbeing of people in Western Australia. As a youth justice services assistant commissioner at the Department of Corrective Services, Mr McCulloch was responsible for re-focusing and reinvigorating the division, with a priority on addressing the over-representation of Aboriginal people in the youth justice system. Mr McCulloch retired from public service at the end of 2017.
