Dr Ken Thomas has over 45 years of mining industry experience, in project development, construction and operations. He was senior vice president of projects at Kinross Gold Corporation, global managing director and board director at Hatch, senior vice president of technical services at Barrick Gold Corporation, and chief operating officer at Crystallex International Corporation which has operations and projects in Venezuela and Uruguay. In addition to a Doctorate in Technical Sciences (Project Implementation) from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, Dr Thomas also holds several industry awards including Mill Man of the Year in 1991, Airey Award in 1999, and the Selwyn G. Blaylock Medal in 2001 awarded by the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum for advances internationally in the mining and metallurgical industry.
