Growing up in Margaret River, Julian Langworthy was immersed in the vineyards and wineries of the region from a young age. His career took him across the globe, with vintages in France and Canada, before heading to South Australia to take up senior winemaking roles in the Barossa, Clare Valley and Coonawarra. His passion for creating regionally distinctive wines led him back to Margaret River and to Deep Woods Estate eight years ago, in the heart of the region he describes as “winemaking nirvana”. Mr Langworthy was selected as James Halliday’s 2019 Winemaker of the Year.
