Juan Otero has over 15 years of experience as a C-level executive across a range of disciplines including general management, sales, marketing, strategic planning, investor relations, business analysis and people management. This has led to his involvement as a consultant and board advisor in several leading startup accelerators, advisory businesses and government organisations like Silicon Valley's Founders Institute, Wayra Startup Accelerator, the European Institute of Innovation & Technology, and the European Commission. After beginning his career at Sun Microsystems (acquired by Oracle for $7.4B), Mr Otero was part of the project management team at booking.com, the world's largest and fastest growing online hotel booking service. He has won numerous industry awards including Top 3 Young Technology Entrepreneurs, Best Tech Startup and Best Entrepreneur. Mr Otero´s areas of expertise include digital marketing, SaaS, innovation strategies, tech startups, capital raising, board advisory, funding strategies, UX, web and mobile development, M&A, mentoring and strategic consulting. Prior to becoming chief executive of Ultimo, Mr Otero was the founder & chief executive of Restalo, Southern Europe's leading online real-time restaurant reservation service, named by Wired Magazine as one of Europe´s fastest growing digital companies. Mr Otero completed the transition of the startup to a company with over 100 employees and yearly revenues in excess of €20M. It is now operating under the Restaurantes.com brand after acquiring local competitor.
