Joyce Polson

Reverend Joyce Polson OAM joined St Mary’s Anglican Girls School in 1967 and retired as school chaplain in 1994. In 2010, she returned to St Mary’s to assist the school chaplain and was made Chaplain Emeritus in 2015. Rev Polson was admitted to the Order of Deaconesses in 1955, the only ministry open to women at that time, and was among the first group of women to be ordained as priests in Australia in 1992. She is an Honorary Member for Life of the St Mary's Old Girls’ Association and joined the foundation board in 2013. In 1999, Rev Polson was awarded a medal of the Order of Australia for services to the community through the Anglican Church.
