Jim Winter spent 21 years in the US Navy, retiring as a Commander. His navy career included wartime engagements in several theatres of operation and consular duties in Australia. He had also held several professorial positions and worked extensively in management consulting.
Mr Winter's professorial career includes systems acquisition management for the Defense Acquisition University and the University of Southern California. Since 1996, he has been an Adjunct Professor at Curtin University. He taught business, leadership, management, team building, project management, risk and safety management, organisational effectiveness, quality, supply chain management and strategic procurement.
Mr Winter's consulting work has been for oil and gas, mining, construction, law, accounting, and all levels of government. His advice has covered planning, leadership, strategy, project management, engineering, process improvement, maintenance and operations.
He held board positions with WA Health, Gridiron Australia, Fremantle Education Centre and Dunsborough Yallingup CCI.
