Janet Holmes a Court

Janet Holmes à Court is owner of the Janet Holmes à Court Collection. She is Chairman of the Australian Children’s Television Foundation (ACTF) and Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Arts and Culture WA (CACWA). She is a Board Member of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra (WASO), the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM), the Australian Urban Design Research Centre (AUDRC) and the Australian Institute of Architects Foundation (AIAF). Janet is also a member of the Centenary Trust for Women Board of Advisors at the University of Western Australia, the State Buildings Advisory Board Western Australia and Commissioner for Australia for the Venice Architecture Biennale. One of Australia's most wealthy businesswomen, Janet Holmes à Court took control of Heytesbury, one of Australia's largest private companies, following the death of her husband Robert in 1990. She no longer holds any interest in this company, following her youngest son Paul's 2008 buyout of his mother and sibling's interests. Mrs Holmes à Court was appointed Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in 1995 and promoted to a Companion of the Order (AC) on Australia Day 2007 for service to business particularly as a leader in the construction, wine and cattle industries, to the advancement of Western Australia's musical and theatre culture, to the visual arts, and to the community. In 2001, she was awarded the Centenary Medal for her service to the arts as chair of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra and Black Swan Theatre Company.
