James Hunt advises and appears in all litigious and commercial aspects of mining and infrastructure tenure in Western Australia. This includes the acquisition and sale of mining tenements and projects, due diligence, the grant of mining and infrastructure tenure, native title, freedom of information applications, access agreements, joint ventures, farm-in agreements, split commodity agreements, royalty agreements and resource company acquisitions. He also appears regularly in the Western Australian Warden’s Court, as well as in the Supreme Court of Western Australia and Court of Appeal in relation to forfeiture applications, tenement applications and other mining and infrastructure tenure applications, disputes, appeals and judicial reviews. Mr Hunt is co-author of the fifth edition of Hunt on Mining Law of Western Australia that was launched by the Premier of Western Australia, the Hon Colin Barnett, in October 2015. He has been recognised by Doyle’s Guide as an Energy & Resources Rising Star for Australia in 2016. Mr Hunt is a member of the Western Australian Committee of AMPLA – The Resources and Energy Law Association, and has published various articles in the Australian Resources & Energy Law Journal.
