Wind farm proponents planning to install turbines in Western Australia can often wait more than two years to get their hands on a crane capable of doing the job.
A $112 million hybrid microgrid to power Gold Fields' Agnew gold mine has been completed, with 22 megawatts of renewable capacity, a battery, and gas/diesel backup plant in what the company claims is the largest such grid in Australia.
Mining company Gold Fields and energy producer EDL have completed the first stage of a renewable energy project that will eventually see wind and solar deliver half the power needs of the Agnew gold mine.
