Jake Spiering was the general manager of finance & compliance for Chevron Australia from 2018 to 2021, when he left Australia for a US-based role with Chevron.

Mr Spiering was the general manager of finance for Chevron’s Eurasia Business Unit, based in Almaty, Kazakhstan and was responsible for the financial activities for Chevron’s operations in Kazakhstan, Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Georgia. He spent much of his time on negotiations and oversight with venture-partners and government representatives with a focus on fiscal regimes, taxation, and assurance activities. Since joining Chevron Australia in 2008, he has held positions of increasing responsibility as finance project manager at Chevron Australia’s Gorgon Project, global upstream finance standardisation manager, finance manager at El Segundo Refinery & Southern California, senior financial analyst in Global Upstream HQ; and as enterprise finance sponsor. Before joining Chevron, Mr Spiering was a manager in the advisory practice at Ernst & Young and was an economic analyst for the Department of Justice. Mr Spiering has a Master in Business Administration (with a focus on strategy) from the Ross School of Business at University of Michigan. He graduated from Willamette University with a Bachelor of Arts in both International Economics and International Political Science.
