Ian Smith
Ian Smith worked for Golder Associates since graduation and had many opportunities and roles.
He commenced as a geotechnical engineer working on large mining projects around Australia and then helped open the Perth Office. This was the first of a series of management roles in Western Australia and Queensland, as well as at the national level. Throughout this period, Mr Smith maintained involvement in consulting through developing business, technical input and review on projects and project management, on projects throughout Australia and in Asia.
In 2000, he managing large complex projects, firstly for mining projects in New Caledonia and Chile and then for a large oil and gas project in Western Australia. In 2009, he joined the global board of Golder Associates and became lead director from 2010.
