Ian Horton is an experienced mining engineer with over 30 years experience in senior operations management roles in Australia and overseas. He is the principal of Linque Consulting which specialises in operational improvement programmes for mining companies around Australasia. Prior to that, Mr Horton was working at Australian mining services groups including Macmahon, Thiess, HWE and Eltin in senior roles including managing contract mining projects across Australia. These roles included new mine startups in various commodities including gold, coal and iron ore.
Mr Horton had worked for, and consulted to, a number of large mining companies including BHP Billiton, Newcrest Mining, Dominion Gold, Acacia Resources, Carpentaria Gold and MIM. He has an honours degree in Mining Engineering from the University of Queensland and an MBA from Deakin University. He is the holder of First Class Mine Manager Certificates of Competency for WA, NT and QLD. Mr Horton’s commodity experience in gold and base metals in Australia and Papua New Guinea, together with his project skills to direct and manage the development and mining phases of projects, led to his appointment of a newly created role at GBM Resources in June 2017.
